This apprenticeship has been designed by industry for anyone wanting to work as a Laboratory Science Technician within a range of sectors; chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and nuclear. Apprentices will carry out technician duties such as calibration, quality control, preparing reagents etc.
Elements of the Apprenticeship to complete –
- NVQ L3 Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities
- A Knowledge qualification i.e. BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Applied Science
- Functional Skills Exams in Maths, ICT and English where applicable
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills plus Employment Rights and Responsibilities
This SASE (Specification of Apprenticeship Standards for England) compliant apprenticeship programme will accept enrollments until the 31st October 2017 and unlike the new Standard apprenticeship has no end-point assessment process. Included as part of this framework is the Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities vocational qualification which offers another level 3 diploma into the offering for your apprentices.
Funding band – 10
This course is delivered either face to face in the workplace or online with planned visits to cover the practical elements of the course
This Apprenticeship is recognised by the professional bodies at Registered Science Technician (RSci Tech) level.
Duration: 20 months.
