Laboratory and Science Technicians Framework – Education Science – Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)

This apprenticeship has been designed for science technicians in academic situations. Apprentices will monitor and maintain equipment, stock levels, prepare practical experiments and design sessions in support of teaching or lecturing staff. Ideal candidates could work in a variety of academic situations from Secondary schools to colleges, universities and private specialist institutions.

Elements of the Apprenticeship to complete –

  • NVQ L3 Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (Education)
  • A Knowledge qualification i.e. BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Applied Science
  • Functional Skills Exams in Maths, ICT and English where applicable
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills plus Employment Rights and Responsibilities

This SASE (Specification of Apprenticeship Standards for England) compliant apprenticeship programme will accept enrolments until the 31st October 2017 and unlike the new Standard apprenticeship has no end-point assessment process. Included as part of this framework is the Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities vocational qualification which offers another level 3 diploma into the offering for your apprentices.

Funding Band – 9

Duration – 24 months

This course is delivered either face to face in the workplace or online with planned visits to cover the practical elements of the course.

The Apprentice is recognised by selected professional bodies at Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) level.
