The Level 4 apprenticeship (Healthcare Science Associate) supports the work of Healthcare Science Practitioners and Clinical Scientists in performing high quality, safe diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring technical and scientific procedures from conception to end of life in job roles within hospitals, general practice and other settings in the healthcare sector and across all areas of Healthcare Science.
The apprentice must achieve the Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science plus –
- A Competence evaluation log
- Evidence that the apprentice has developed an insight into their personal and professional development
- End Point Assessment
There are three components that make up end-point assessment for the Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship. Assessment will consist of:
- Professional Practice Test
- Vocational Competence Observation
- Review of portfolio of evidence and Professional Discussion
Each component of end-point assessment is graded. Apprentices will also receive a grade for the overall end-point assessment. This will be Pass/Merit/Distinction.
On completion of the apprenticeship individuals will be eligible to join the Academy for HCS’s (AHCS) accredited Associate Register at Level 4.
Funding band – 9
The nature of this duel knowledge and competency diploma will allow apprentices to use workplace evidence against the course criteria meaning that far less time will be spent by the away from their duties.
