Technician Scientist – Chemical or Biological Science – Higher Apprenticeship (Level 5)

This apprenticeship will develop fully competent Technician Scientists able to work in a wide range of organisations for example, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products, nuclear and analytical services. Apprentices will carry out technical and scientific activities including lab based investigations and experimentation in their specialist field.

Elements of the Apprenticeship to complete –

  • Health and Safety qualification, Behaviour and Vocational Competence logs
  • Knowledge qualification i.e. a higher national diploma in either biology or chemistry
  • End-Point Assessment with 3 key components
    • Synaptic Assessment Test
    • Vocational Competence Discussion
    • Scenario Based Case Study

 This apprenticeship is graded due to the external independent assessment that must take place in the final stages. Apprentices can either fail, achieve a pass or distinction level as their overall grade. CSR will work closely with each apprentice to complete ‘mock’ assessments during the final few months of the programme to properly prepare apprentices to achieve the highest levels of success.

Funding Band – 15

Duration – 36 months

This course is delivered either face to face in the workplace or online with planned visits to cover the practical elements of the course.

This Apprenticeship is recognised by professional bodies at Registered Scientist (RSci) level.
